Principles of growing corn

Corn is a demanding cereal crop in terms of temperature, it is thermophilic, it likes temperatures above 16 degrees Celsius, and the optimal temperature is 22°C.

Corn sprouts evenly at a temperature of 9 - 10 °C.

The corn germination process takes place in the soil at temperatures of 6 degrees Celsius. Corn is resistant to frost down to -3°C. The phases from flowering to ripening are not so demanding when it comes to temperatures.

It is not a cereal that requires a lot of irrigation because it has a well-developed root system, which is why it tolerates drought or water shortages more easily. However, during flowering, i.e. in July and early August, it requires more irrigation.

It is recommended to grow corn in an agricultural system called monoculture for 3-4 years in a row. Corn sowing should start in the second half of April in the southwestern part of Poland, from April 25 to May 5 in the southeastern regions, and until May 10 in other parts. The proper time of sowing corn seeds guarantees better development of the root system and, consequently, higher yields.

Soil requirements, corn fertilization.

The best corn yields are obtained, among others, on soils:

light, low peats, with a reaction in 1M KCl above 5.5 pH in 1M KCl, with a high content of humus and an average content of available forms of phosphorus, potassium and magnesium complexes of mountain wheat and cereals.

What fertilizers for corn? Corn fertilization programs according to Novagra.

What fertilizers and nutrients should be used for corn to enjoy high yields and healthy cobs? The effective selection of fertilizers for corn is related to knowledge about soil quality. It should be emphasized that nitrogen is one of the key ingredients that has a positive impact on crop yields, but it should be supplied together with other macro and micronutrients.

Our specialized VitaStar® fertilization programs are perfect for field, fruit and vegetable crops. They were created using modern ingredients, including the innovative CARPRAMID® protein.

The corn fertilization program is a specialized plan giving the dosage in liters per hectare. To learn details about the use of individual fertilizers, find and download a specific file at: https://www.novagra.com.pl/programy-upraw.

The germination stage is supported by VitaStar® Seed Power, a coloring seed dressing that ensures faster development of the root system and the entire plant and increases immunity.

Sprouting crops up to the three-leaf stage take energy from the seed endosperm, and our innovative product - seed dressing fertilizer with nutrients such as phosphorus and other macroelements - provides this energy to the seeds.

VitaStar® AminoSuper and VitaStar® AscoSuper are suspension foliar fertilizers with biostimulating properties, which in the case of corn should be used in phases: emergence and leaf development 3-4.

At the stage of leaf development 3-4, Vitastar® P is also used - a solution foliar fertilizer with a significant phosphorus content.

VitaStar® 36, containing large amounts of nitrogen, is supplied in 3 subsequent stages, i.e.: leaf development 3-4, leaf development 6-9, beginning of cob development.

The Corn Fertilization Program assumes feeding the plant with a suspension mineral fertilizer containing zinc and boron: Vita Star ZN B, in the following two phases: leaf development 6-9 and the beginning of cob development.

Beginning of cob development is the time when two excellent suspension products should be used:

    VitaStar® SUPER Kombi, a fertilizer containing highly concentrated potassium, magnesium, nitrogen and sulfur; VitaStar® SUPER Micro - concentrated fertilizer enriched with nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and micronutrients;
